One of my 2015 highlights was hanging out with these kids after a concert at a refugee shelter in Berlin. And man, these little dudes knew how to rock!
It was a humbling and eye opening experience. But the moment I'll never forget was when an old man came to me after our set, took both my hands in his and couldn't stop shaking them. He had tears in his eyes and the most grateful, warm smile I've ever seen. I can't speak Arabic, he couldn't speak English. But we each knew exactly what the other was saying.
These people have endured so much. The things they've suffered at the hands of both extremists and corrupt governments would be enough to crush any of us. Yet their strength, courage and hope is still strong. It was a privilege to bring a little music back into their lives.
Doesn't matter where you come from or what religion you belong to. We are all human beings. -Raj
