YES! What an inspiring story, and so eloquently told. Speaking up really does make a difference.
It's hard for some to believe, but people of colour are still treated differently on a daily basis. It's something I've lived with my whole life. Something I see my family and friends deal with every day.
Overt racism isn't the biggest problem. If someone shouts a racist remark at me I just roll my eyes & keep walking. It's little things like this which have the most devastating effect on one's sense of self worth. The constant implication that you're not quite as intelligent, trustworthy or believable because of the colour of your skin. The need to dress a little better or achieve a little more just to be seen as an equal.
But we can change all that. This video is a beautiful example of how we can influence people around us by just speaking up. There are more good people in this world than bad. Imagine what would happen if they all spoke up more often.
Words are the weapons of change. Let's use them!
