This is our engineer Peter Schmidt. He's living with us at the studio while we record. The man is beast when it comes to pulling killer sounds. He's got a great ear and loves experimenting. It's kinda like having a fifth band member.
Staying in the band apartment behind the studio for the 4 weeks we're here. Living at the studio has been awesome- we literally wake up and walk 20m to record each day. Spain is freaking hot but the nights are beautiful. The village we're in is tiny so there's no distractions either. Tracked the beds for 4 songs so far and we're super excited about how they're sounding.
Spent the last few days practicing the new songs to get ready for tracking. At the moment we're all set up in the studio's drum room- makes it easier to rehearse. Tomorrow we set up guitar, bass and vocals in separate rooms and start pulling sounds for recording.
Arrived at the studio! It's a villa in a little village in Spain that's been converted for recording. Here for 4 weeks to make the new album. This is the first time we'll be able to record with no distractions and enough time to really experiment.
Thanks to everyone who's contributed to our crowdfunding so far- you guys made this possible ?. Still need to raise more to cover mixing and mastering so if you'd like to pledge just hit up pledge.thesunpilots.com.
Sunday's busking session didn't exactly go to plan. Got to Mauerpark super early to claim our spot, started playing around noon then a few minutes later the cops turned up & shut down all the music. They DID let us play one last song though, so we finished on a 15 minute version of Exodus. Win.
Spent the rest of the day chillin' instead.
